Our new course offering challenges traditional paradigms of production based agriculture. We have the view that a farm is really a small to medium sized business. All other business models have evolved to be profit based. We think that by teaching farmers to focus on net dollars per acre rather than bushels, they can take control of their profitability - eventually moving towards profit before subsidies are applied! A profitable farming economy means keeping Saskatchewan's youth here, where they belong.
Workshops will be put on wherever 8 to 14 farm units commit to attending the course.
The Canadian Agricultural Skills Service (CASS) is a program designed to help farmers increase their family income by: improving farm practices, building new agricultural enterprises, creating new business ventures, or obtaining employment income. It is a joint initiative of Sask Ag & Food and Ag Canada as one of the Renewal Programs under the Agricultural Policy Framework. Producers who are eligible for the program can receive financial support for education & training to help them achieve their goals. Visit the CASS website for more information on this program.
This workshop is one of the eligible learning activities in this CASS program. The tuition fee will be $800 per participating family for the 2 day course. For an optional $100 the chief facilitator will evaluate and review individual participants' economic calculations.
